(1) Shin-Moon Manhwa (Manhwa for Newspaper)
'History of Manhwa' is over 100 years. Among them, 1st. was 'Shin-Moon Manhwa'. It could be divided into 'Si-Sa Manhwa'(Manhwa about current events & political view.) & 'Story Manhwa'(Manhwa based on Story, usual thing.).
'Si-Sa Manhwa' is standard for 100 years history of Manhwa. It started from 19081, which is divided into 'Caricature' and '4-panel comics'(or 1-panel comics). '4-panel comics' style has been more popular, about current events & political view. Until now, most newspaper has 'Si-Sa Manhwa', Korea could be only 1 country which has such tradition. It has very long history as 100 years, authors could be most powerful to overpower all kind of Manhwa writers.2

'Story Manhwa' started from Jan. 1972, at 'Il-Gam Sports'(Daily Sports) with 'Im-Gguk-Jung' by 'Woo-Young Go'. At first, it's all about long story as other Manga / Manhwa does. 'Omnibus' / '4-panel comics' style were added later, then several different kind of Manhwa style were gathered in 1 Newspaper.
'Woo-Young Go' was considered as Maestro of Manhwa for grown-ups.
He was passed at 2005.
At now, 1 'Sports Shin-Moon'(News paper for Sports & Entertainment) features 4-10 Manhwas, mostly for grown-ups not teenagers.[footnote]Editor's Note : At now 'Sports Shin-Moon' lost majority, Metro style Free-paper has taken share instead. Free-paper is same for featuring Manhwas. Manhwas of Free-paper are usually recycled, which were featured earlier for Book / Sports Shin-Moon / Web.[/footnote] It made different ecosystem for 'Adult Comics'(or Comic for Grown-Ups). After 1990's, plain newspaper(NOT Sports Shin-Moon) started featuring 'Story Manhwa', even some of them had special section only for Manhwa.
For Dec. 9th. 2010 issue, it has 4 Manhwas.
3 are recycled, which were featured in other 'Sports Shin-Moon'..
1 is public service campaign.
Other kind of Free-paper has more Manhwas / Mangas,
even from published books. (Kinda advertisement for those books.)
Of course, Korea is not only 1 country which had Comics for newspaper. But as I wrote above, Korean newspaper feature lots of Manhwas, while foreign newspaper doesn't have so many at 1 newspaper. In Korea, most popular authors became to write for newspaper some day, 3 because market size is big. According to this situation, Newspaper could be another Media for Manhwa in Korea.
Furthermore, 'Manhwa Magazine for Grown-ups' doesn't win good share in Korea, because 'Shin-Moon Manhwa' already filled that demand. There was 'Man-Hwa-Gwang-Jang' in 1980's, 'Mister Blue' in 1990's. They didn't last so long. It means, there were not something like 'Heavy Metal' in US / 'Big Comics' in Japan. We must not think Manhwa market is immature, only because 'Manhwa Magazine for Grown-ups' didn't win good share. 'Shin-Moon Manhwa' & 'Dae-Bon-So Manhwa' got that share instead, entirely different ecosystem was made.
